| Music - Students experience rhythm, voice instruments, composers
and musical notation through our vibrant music program. Special musical productions allow
students to share their talents and love of music. Guest artists visit our campus and
perform with our students.
Spanish - Spanish lessons begin at the Childrens House with
a variety of topics from color to conversation. As students progress, art projects,
cooking, & studies of Spanish-speaking countries are incorporated into the curriculum.

Computer - From the basics to interdisciplinary applications,
computer lessons are broad-based. Upper elementary students learn spreadsheet &
database applications. Middle school students incorporate yearbook design into their
skills.
Library Beginning in Kindergarten, students check out books on a
computerized catalog system. Learning research methods, writing stories and making books
are among the library activities that challenge the older classes.
Art - Students express themselves through many different media
including clay, paint, pencils, wire, ink, and watercolors. Learning new techniques as
they study the masters, students experiment in an environment where everyone succeeds.
Guest artists bring their inspiration to our studio and demonstrate their work.
Physical Education - Regular classes in physical education teach students a
variety of sports and games, from lacrosse, soccer & basketball, to archery and
calisthenics. P.E. is a non-competitive opportunity for learning. Strong Bodies
Build Strong Minds is a favorite school motto.
Health - Health classes for upper elementary & middle school
students teach nutrition, hygiene, body systems & fitness. Students incorporate good
habits for lifelong health into an individual plan.
Drama - Students stage entertaining productions for school
assemblies and family audiences. In addition, students may perform in classroom talent
shows, building their confidence in a small group.
Sports - Intramural sports are sponsored for Kindergarten
through Middle School. Older students can participate in conference competition offered in
five different sports. Statesville Montessori coordinates a conference of independent and
charter schools. |
